چکیده

The problem that is studied concerns a yawed wedge under a free surface, moving at a uniform speed. The model involves a trailing cavity whose boundary is a dividing streamline through the vertex of the wedge. The cavity closure mechanism is described according to the Tulin– Terent’ev single-spiral-vortex model. A closed-form solution to the governing nonlinear boundaryvalue problem is found by the method of conformal mappings. The doubly connected flow domain is treated as the image by this map of the exterior of two slits in a parametric plane. The mapping function is constructed through the solution to two boundary-value problems of the theory of analytic functions, the Hilbert problem for two slits in a plane, and the Riemann–Hilbert problem on an elliptic surface. Numerical results for the shape of the cavity and the free surface, the yaw angle, the drag and lift coefficients, and the circulation are reported.

IN recent years a number of papers treating linearized free-streamline problems have appeared subsequent to Tulin's introductory paper on this subject [1] .1 Among these may be mentioned Wu's extension of Tulin's method for supercavitating hydrofoils with arbitrary shape and cavitation number [2], hydrofoils with cavitation only near the leading edge. [3], supercavitating hydrofoils in cascade ...

Numerical simulation research on the optimization for blade shape of rotational supercavitating

Rotational Supercavitating Evaporator (RSCE) has been proposed as a new technology for seawater desalination. However, it lacks systematic researches on the blade shape of RSCE. In this paper, numerical simulations were conducted on the supercavities formed behind two-dimensional (2D) wedge-shaped cavitators of the RSCE. The cavitating flows around the 2D wedge-shaped cavitators with several ce...

Boundary layer flow beneath a uniform free stream permeable continuous moving surface in a nanofluid

The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a boundary layer analysis for the fluid flow andheat transfer characteristics of an incompressible nanofluid flowing over a permeable isothermalsurface moving continuously. The resulting system of non-linear ordinary differential equations issolved numerically using the fifth–order Runge–Kutta method with shooting techniques usingMatlab and Maple s...

Numerical Solution of the Symmetric Water Impact of a Wedge Considering Dynamic Equations of Motion

In this research, numerical simulation of a symmetric impact of a 2-D wedge, considering dynamic equations in two-phase flow is taken into account. The two-phase flow around the wedge is solved based on finite volume method and volume of fluid (VOF) scheme. The dynamic mesh model is used to simulate dynamic motion of the wedge, thereby the effects of different dynamic meshes in both structured ...

A Reynolds uniform numerical method for Prandtl’s boundary layer problem for flow past a three dimensional yawed wedge

Abstract We consider Prandtl’s boundary layer problem for incompressible laminar flow past a three dimensional yawed wedge. When the Reynolds number is large the solution of this problem has a parabolic boundary layer. We construct a direct numerical method for computing approximations to the solution of this problem using a compound piecewise-uniform mesh appropriately fitted to the parabolic ...
